A Woman’s Cycle Decoded
The average cycle consists of 28 days broken down into three main stages. During each stage different hormones are responsible for the changes that occur in appearance, mood, and her libido.
Days 1-7
The first five to seven days are a woman’s actual period. It can last anywhere from two to six days and the average amount of blood shed is six to eight ounces. Women generally experience cramps during the first few days of their period. Due to the increased levels of prostaglandin some women may also suffer from diarrhea. Is she suddenly craving red meat? Don’t be alarmed, during this time her iron stores may become depleted.
This probably isn’t a time where she’s going to feel like getting frisky, although some women are not akin to the idea of period sex. Comfort her with lots of couch cuddling and if she does happen to feel a little horny you might luck out with a no strings attached blowjob. But, otherwise go out for a weekend with the guys and give your girl some space.
Days 8-14
Towards day six of her cycle creative levels peak and she may try her hand at something artistic. Don’t be too critical of her, though, because now’s your best chances for getting some nookie. Estrogen levels rise slow and steady during the follicular phase. A follicle containing an egg develops in the ovary. Her body is priming itself for ovulation and she’s going to be hornier than hell.
During ovulation, typically days 12-16, the follicle bursts and releases the egg. She will also experience a surge in luteinizing hormone, estrogen level peaks, and progesterone rises. She’s going to be in a great mood and have sex on the brain. But be careful, you may have competition. Studies show that men are drawn to ovulating women by their slightly different odor.
Days 15-21
Although you may have been exhausted from the previous weeks sex sessions don’t think that you’re out of the clear on fertilizing her egg. Sperm can survive in the reproductive track for up to seven days. Continue to use birth control for worry free body bonding.
Don’t be surprised if your woman is feeling unattractive during this part of her cycle. Her uterine lining is thickening, preparing a soft landing for the fertilized egg, and also causing your girl to swell up a little, too. Her skin may break out from the hormone cocktail her body is producing. But ride it out because by mid-week progesterone levels rise and may cause a surge of happiness and optimism. This is good for you, as you may be able to get some if you play your cards right.
Some women experience a phenomenon known as menstrual synchrony. Although there is no known function behind it, women who spend lots of time together may notice that their cycles start to sync up.
Days 22-28
If the egg is unfertilized the corpus luteum shrinks and vanishes. During this time progesterone peaks. A woman may experience breast tenderness and headaches. The rise in progesterone may make her feel sad and hungry. She’s probably feeling bloated and although she should increase her intake of high protein, low carb, low salt foods, she’s going to crave sugary sweet confections loaded with carbs. Your woman is PMSing, but referring to this time in any negative way can seriously harm your chances of getting any in the future. Be as supportive as you can and make sure the freezer is stocked with Ben and Jerry’s because those are probably the only men she wants anything to do with. This is the end of a 28-day cycle and a new one will begin with the onset of her period.
Menstruation differs from woman to woman. But, most women know what is normal for their body. Some experience little to no PMS while others suffer so severely they have trouble functioning. Understanding the wonders of a woman’s cycle can have big pay-offs for you whether you’re looking to get laid, want to make a baby, or just want to know when to steer clear of her. Plus, she’ll think you’re the most wonderful guy on the planet if you understand and anticipate her needs.
